GSM RECEIVES 2016 GOVERNOR'S NCWORKS AWARD OF DISTINCTION.

Gastonia-Locally owned HVAC company, GSM Services (Gastonia Sheet Metal) was recently selected to receive the 2016 Governor's NCWorks Award of Distinction as an "Outstanding Employer." The award was presented on October 6 during a banquet at the Greensboro Sheraton's Four Season Hotel as part of the NCWorks Partnership Conference.

In announcing GSM’s selection, Governor Pat McCrory noted, “GSM’s nomination was based on their demonstrated contributions to the economy and improved workforce development opportunities in the community.” He also noted, “you are indeed a positive role model for North Carolina employees and embody the true spirit of NCWorks.”

NCWorks is a dedicated plan to connect North Carolina jobs with North Carolina people. The Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Solutions, NC Commission on Workforce Development and the North Carolina Community College System streamline their programs and resources to achieve that goal.

Steven Long, President of the Residential Division, accepted the award on behalf of GSM. Others in attendance and representing GSM were members of the Long family.

In his acknowledgement of the award, Long said, “North Carolina, and Gaston County in particular, is our home. We want to do all we can to give back and to help achieve the goal of giving North Carolina a competitive edge when it comes to highly skilled workers.” He continued, “at GSM, we are honored that our efforts were recognized with this distinguished award.”

Donna Caskey, Human Resources Director, spearheaded the efforts for GSM’s nomination. Her diligence paid off resulting in the governor’s selection from ‘many deserving’ companies. In responding to the selection Caskey stated, “working with all levels of employees and interns at GSM, I see firsthand how dedicated this company is too workforce development and its importance to a strong community. I couldn’t be more proud of this distinguished recognition for the GSM family.”
