PROJECT SPOTLIGHT - GSM ROCKS THE SOAP BOX

In addition to the many traditional carnival rides, there was an array of food and craft vendors – as well as an opening day pinning ceremony recognizing our Vietnam Veterans. The Gaston All-American Fair culminated with the Soap Box Derby races, bands and fireworks.

Initially, the kids that signed up were to make their own cars, but time constraints prevented that. So, one of the fair organizers reached out to their corporate sponsors to help build the cars for the kids to race. Children between ages six and twelve were using the cars we provided.

We were given basic kits that included the wheels, axles and steering column. From there we had a little over a week to complete the cars. And in typical GSM Services fashion, the team stepped up with a wide variety of imaginative designs. Which also led to some competition between team members. The end result was full on GSM Services awesomeness! Upon delivering the cars, we found out there was only one other sponsor who had built just three cars, so this was a big win for GSM Services to be able to provide some joy and entertainment for the youth of Gaston County.
