4 QUICK AND EASY TIPS/TRICKS TO HELP YOU FEEL WARMER IN YOUR HOME
1. Use Curtains
Curtains can help keep the heat in the house and prevent cold drafts from coming inside your home. Try to use curtains that have a thermal lining—the thicker the curtains the better. During sunlight hours, keep the curtains open (for free natural heat from the sun), but as soon as dusk comes, shut the curtains completely.
2. Use Rugs
Cold air can also seep in from the hard floors. If your floor is not insulated well, it can cause your home to feel uncomfortable. A quick easy solution is to cover your floor with a rug—adding that extra layer helps to prevent cold air from entering the home.
3. Use door draft stoppers
Many home owners complain that cold air enters their home from drafts underneath their door. Invest in an under the door draft stopper. You can find easy to install kits on amazon or at your local hardware store. This not only helps to prevent drafts from outside, but also helps to prevent bugs from entering your home through the gaps. You can find these kits for as low as $10-$15. If you do not have the time or money, you can always put blankets/towels at the bottom of the doors as well for a quick DIY.
4. Use your ceiling fans.
YES- you heard that right! Turn on those ceiling fans, but make sure they are set to rotate clockwise. Here is why – warm air rises, so if you turn your ceiling fan to low-speed rotating clockwise, then it will help to push all of the warm air back down. This will help to make your room feel much warmer.
